Architects envision a bright new future for Milan’s abandoned railways

Five international studios– MAD Architects, EMBT, Stefano Boeri Architects, Cino Zucchi Architetti and Mecanoo– designed five exciting redevelopment proposals for seven disused rail yards in the city of Milan in Italy. The firms worked on the proposals during a workshop help in December 2016 and reimagined the brownfield sites of Farini, Porta Genova, Porta Romana, Lambrate, Greco, Rogoredo and San Cristoforo as beautiful green spaces with social housing and green transportation systems.
