The Hatchery announces new $30M food incubator for ‘global culinary capital’

A food incubator planned for Chicago’s East Garfield Park could provide much-needed economic growth for a struggling community. Nearly 40 percent of households there are below the poverty level, according to the Chicago Tribune. But the $30 million facility, The Hatchery, could create 150 jobs in its first year, and in five years offer 900 jobs. The organization expects to break ground on the facility later this year.
