The Seychelles creates debt-for-conservation deal with Leonardo DiCaprio

The Seychelles, an island nation in East Africa, recently announced the creation of two new Marine Protected Areas nearly the size of Great Britain. It’s part of what The Telegraph called a debt for nature swap: the island nation gets a $20 million debt relief plan backed by investors including our favorite eco hero Leonardo DiCaprio, and according to the Nature Conservancy, the organization that designed the deal, will protect areas from nearly all human activity.
